Wilton Police initiated a traffic stop on a 2009 Mazda after observing the driver run a red light on Thursday, Nov. 21 around 6:45 a.m.
When speaking with the driver, identified as Samantha Bonkowski, 28, of Stamford, police say she showed signs of impairment.
Bonkowski was subsequently asked to participate in a series of field sobriety tests, which police say she did not pass.
Bonkowski was arrested and transported to headquarters, where her blood-alcohol level was tested at .1877.
Bonkowski was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to obey traffic signals. She was released after posting a $260 bond and is scheduled tp appear in court on Monday, Dec. 2.
